I-butane is widely used in petrochemical industry, while the byprod ucts of petroleum cracking reaction contain a large number of n-butane. We can effectively improve the utilization rate of resources by preparati on of i-butane from these n-butane which is easy to get. Research for the isomerization of n-butane in our country started late, isomerization devices driven successfully in our country are mostly of buying foreign technology. In this paper, we prepared the chlorinated Pt supported alumina cat alyst by means of equivalent-volume impregnation. We studied some fac tors in the preparation which have significant compacts on the performa nce of catalyst like catalyst carrier, the calcination temperature and the platinum loading. We found that the alumina balls imported is more suit able than the other two kinds of alumina bought in our country as a ca rrier; catalyst of calcination in 650℃ and the platinum loading of 0.3% had a better performance in conversion and selectivity. The presence of chlorine is an important premise to guarantee the high conversion rate and selectivity at low reaction temperature. Chlorin e activation can improve the acidity of the catalyst and change of chlor ide injection conditions would have a great influence on the performanc e of the catalyst. The best condition for chlorine injection:treated with dried CCI4 in hydrogen atmosphere of 300℃ for half an hour, liquid ve locity is 2.8ml/h, then treated with dried CCI4 in the same liquid veloci ty for another two hours in the same temperature and the nitrogen atmo sphere, the gas velocity was 200ml/h, then reduction in 200℃ for two hours at last. The survival time of catalyst was also increased which tre ated according to this chlorine method. We have improved the purification of raw materials. The results sh owed that, this catalyst has very strict requirements for the purification of raw materials. Under a certain degree of purification, isomerization re action with this kind of catalyst could carry out in pressure of 2MPa a nd low temperature of 200℃, The highest n-butane conversion could re ach 60% and i-butane selectivity could get as high as 90% when the hydrogen alkane ratio is 1.
