Transparent oxyfluoride glass ceramics is a new type glass ceramics which are composed by fluoride crystallites embedded in an oxide glass matrix developed recently. Glass ceramics are promising materials in various field, such as structural materials, technical materials, optical and electrical materials and decoration materials, which are widely used in various fields of national defense cutting-edge technology industry, construction and life, etc. This paper studies the Ce3+/Tb3+ ions doped transparent oxyfluoride glass ceramics. The microstructure, luminescent properties and fluorescence lifetime are investigated and the energy transfer from Ce3+to Tb3+is also analysed. In the first chapter, the findings of rare earth elements and electronic structure of rare earth ions are introduced, and rare earth ions are widely used in various fields of metallurgy, military, petrochemical, glass ceramics, agriculture and new materials, etc. The characteristic and preparation of glass ceramics are described. And the classification of rare earth ions doped glass ceramics and the related research of glass ceramics abroad in recent years are discussed. In the second chapter, the theoretical basics knowledge mainly used in this article are studied, which include rare earth ions luminescence theory, the energy transfer theory between rare earth ions and the Inokuti-Hirayama theory. In the third chapter, the materials and equipment which related to experimental, programs and routes of experimental, test methods and principles of properties of glass and glass ceramics are mainly introduced. In the fourth chapter, the preparation and luminescent properties of Ce3+ ion doped oxyfluoride glass ceramics are discussed. Precursor glass is fabricated by melt-quenching technique and glass ceramics are prepared from precursor glass by thermal treatment. The existence of Ba Gd F5 nanocrystals in the transparent glass ceramics are proved by X-ray diffraction(XRD). The crystal structure are analysed by transmission electron microscopy(TEM). Thefluorescence properties are investigated. And the energy transfer mechanism from Ce3+ ions to Tb3+ ions are discussed. In the fifth chapter, Tb3+ doped oxyfluoride tellurite glass are discussed. The UV-visible transmission spectra, excitation spectra, emission spectra and decay times of Dy3+ions of glass which combination different Dy3+ ions and Tb3+ ions concentration are investigated, and the influence on glass luminescence properties in different components and the energy transfer from Dy3+ ions to Tb3+ ions are discussed. Then the preparation and luminescent properties of Tb3+doped transparent oxyfluoride glass ceramics are studied. Glass ceramics are prepared by thermal treatment from precursor glass and their luminescent properties are investigated. The existence of Ba Gd F5 and Ba Lu2F8 nanocrystals in the transparent glass ceramics are proved by X-ray diffraction(XRD) The crystal structure are analysed by transmission electron microscopy(TEM). And the energy transfer mechanism from Gd3+ ions to Tb3+ ions are discussed. In the sixth chapter, the preparation and luminescent properties of Ce3+ ions and Tb3+ ions co-doped transparent oxyfluoride glass ceramics are studied. The existence of Ba Gd F5 nanocrystals are proved by the XRD. The nanocrystals structure are proved by the TEM. The luminescent properties were investigated by UV-visible transmission spectra, excitation spectra, emission spectra and fluorescence decay curves. And the energy transfer mechanism from Ce3+ ions to Tb3+ions are discussed. Finally, the contents of this thesis are summarized.
