To meet the need of high efficiency, high precision, high reliability and the specialization, developing high-performance cemented carbides cutting tools is the main research area at this stage. In this paper, functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbide was prepared by microwave sintering and nitriding technology, and then the mechanical properties, friction and wear properties of the material and tool cutting performance were analyzed in-depth. In this paper, It comes the main research work as follows:1)Mechanical properties were studied by drainage method, three point bending method and so on. By scanning electron microscopy(SEM/BSE) and X-ray diffractomtry(XRD), the paper observes and analyses phase composition and fracture morphology characteristics. Compared with the commercial YT15, physical and mechanical properties of functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbides is better.2) Using a ball-on-disc friction and wear high-speed tester for reciprocating sliding friction test instrument, the paper analyzes the friction and wear properties of functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbides.Compared with the commercial YT15, functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbides have lower friction coefficient, and friction coefficient have better stability. With the increase of sliding distance and load, functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbides trend to reducing the wear rate, showing good wear resistance. When the force is 100 N and the speed is 800r/min, the friction coefficient of functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbides is 0.235, which has reduced by 8.5% compared with the commercial YT15.3) The paper carry out the cutting test of functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbides, studies the cutting force effeted by the cutting speed, feed rate, turning back, and discusses the tool wear performance. The results show that with the increase of cutting speed, the main cutting forcecF, the radial forcepF, and the axial forcefF of YT15 and functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbides are reduced; With the increase of feed rate and turning back, the main cutting forcecF, the radial forcepF, and the axial forcefF of YT15 and functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbides are increased. The main cutting force cF, the radial force pF of functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbides are lower than the commercial YT15, but the axial forcefF is bit big. The “polished” blade of abrasive wear and micro-crack is the main wear form for functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbides. When compared with the commercial YT15, functionally gradient WC-15%Ti C-Co cemented carbides has good abrasion resistance, highly bonding resistance.
