Recent years, the development of the composite column gradually become the protagonist, though plate column had been held the position in the field of industrial application. A variety of composite plates were made up of per-existing plate combined with packing. It received extensive attention from the researchers, searching for suitable plate is the key point to solve the problem, that plate as the core component of compound tower, its role cannot be ignored.A novel plate column, decentralised down-comer sieve plate column,is designed. Decentralised down-comer sieve plate was mainly improved on the basis of the traditional centralized down-comer sieve plate, and changed the traditional arch down-comer into circular tubes, which distributed in the center of the triangle consisting of sieve pores. The normal conditions of decentralised down-comer sieve plate column is that rising gas through the liquid layer by sieve pores from bottom to upper layer and liquid on the plate down to the lower space through the even-distributed down-comer. The decentralised down-comer sieve plate has the characteristics as follows: 1) The mass transfer area of the plate, gas and liquid channel area and transfer space of tower were significantly increased; 2) The liquid drop is eliminated; 3) It realized three-dimensional, continuously differential contact and mass transfer process for gas and liquid; 4) Decentralized down-comer sieve plate will has a good application prospect as a composite plate in modern industry.The decentralised down-comer sieve plate column,a novel plate column, was designed and invented. Adopting oxygen-air-water system, the characteristics and influencing factors of sieve plate efficiency were explored then compared with traditional plate. The results showed that decentralised down-comer sieve plate column with a lower pressure drop, entrainment entrainment rate and discharge rate were lower than 10%; the gas and liquid in the new sieve column distributed evenly and contacted adequately, the hydrodynamic performance was so effective that the mass transfer efficiency was higher than that of traditional sieve plate by 8.4%~9.7% in the same conditions. To simulate the experimental data correlation, regression that dispersed liquid drop sieve plate tower preliminary mathematical model of the main hydraulic performance, and study its mass transfer efficiency.Decentralised down-comer sieve plate column can be convenient to be a key part of the composite tower, which is combined with packing. This experimental study lays the foundation for composite tower with decentralized down-comer tray, and provides a theoretical basis for the industrial application. As a new member of sieve plates tower equipments’ family, decentralised down-comer sieve plate is not only expected to be applied in the field of traditional and mass transfer separation, but also in the field of combination or compound tower to show its special advantages.
