As the key procedure of ore beneficiation, grinding process undertakes the task of providing proper ore pulp for the follow-up separation. The quality index of the ore particle size affect the economic and technology index immediately. Therefore, realize the operation control target to control the particle size into its targeted range and approach the target value has important significance to ensure the safety and stability of the process, to increase the grade and production of concentrate, to increase the economic benefit and decrease energy consumption.Currently, a series of advanced control software for operation control based on real-time optimization (RTO), model predictive control (MPC) have been widely used in chemical process like petrochemical and refining industries. Moreover, they have achieved great economic results. However, above software is not only of expensive price, but also not suited to the grinding process in our country due to the large volatility of boundary conditions, the difficulty of measuring the technique indices on-line of mineral grinding process, meanwhile the difficulty of modeling the accurate mathematical models. Now operation control application software for grinding process in our country are designed based on configuration software. However, they are mainly used to process supervision. Even though they include ample device graphics library and animation script function, their expansibility is bad for the limit of programmatic interface. Therefore, they provide bad user interface performance and poor usability. But it is hard for operator to use these software for their limited educational level in the industry field. Hence, it’s in sore need of developing an operation control software with great usability, high reliability and friendly user interface.In order to solve above problems, user-friendly of user interface, usability and fault-tolerant of the software is considered based on human-computer interaction techniques. Afterwards operation control application software for grinding process is designed and developed. The software is supported by the National Basic Research Program (973) of China under Grant 2009CB320604. The software is shown to be useful and efficient from usability testing and simulation and field experiment. The main works of this paper are described as follows:1. Analysis the feature of grinding production process, the operation control method and the function and framework of the state-of-the-art optimal control software. Besides, start from the human-computer interaction technologies, requirements and analysis of the operation control application software for operator is proposed.2. The overall framework of the software is designed in this thesis. Then the function of each module and interactive interface is designed based on the principle of human-computer interaction. From the perspective of achieving operation control target, the software can be divided into several parts:algorithm module, optimal operation module, variable monitor module and operational log management module.3. According to the designs, develop the modules of the software in the MVVM(Model View ViewModel) module. Thereamong, using the Finite State Machine to manage the transition of states in optimal module, using Data Binding and Trigger to refresh the UI component, they solve the problem of complex operational logic together and provide intelligent interaction experience for users. Using the paging technique to manage logs to achieve the segmented display of the data. In this way, improve the availability of interaction. Besides, providing data in the way of form, trend chart and bar graph to make the information exchange between user and computer more effective. Using dynamical object and Data Binding to achieve the responsive user interface for data module of data monitor module.4. At last, this paper tests the performance of human-computer interaction and the performance of the software. First, the usability test of the software is given. After the validation, we found that:The model of index data management and analysis can provide a function of data collection, statistical analysis, and data pre-processing. After that is the test of core function and it proved that it can finish the operation control perfectly. Finally, we use the software in the real industry field.
