Virtual reality technology rely on computer technology, by means of the interactive equipment upgrade, come into the people’s life. Virtual reality technology aims to create theenvironment, for users in it not only receives the certain information, more able to interact with the elements in the scene. Along with development of science and technology changes, mechanical field is combined with practice in the field of virtual reality. According to the analysis of the characteristics of virtual reality, it is very suitable for application in the working condition of mechanical product virtual assembly demonstration.Ball mill is a kind of widely used grinding equipment, its product positioning not only for the mining enterprises, in the ceramicmanufacturing, biochemical pharmaceutical and other aspects also used. If we can build a virtual ball mill simulation system, then it is a great convenience for both manufacturers and users.This article uses the VRP virtual reality editor to build a virtual reality simulation system of ball mill, auxiliary modeling tools for the 3 ds Max and SolidWorks, refer to the mechanical production of practical experience and the technology of computer graphics. This paper involves the simulation system of ball mill, support online use, also can be used offline. Around the theme of virtual reality in the design process, analyses the structure and the working state of the ball mill, has set up a model for the various parts, and set up the three dimensional animation, and discusses the method of adding various script in the VRP, eventually into practice.In the first chapter, this article has summarized the research and development of the ball mill, and the research status of virtual reality technology at home and abroad are discussed. The second chapter is the overall design. The third chapter discussed how the integrated use of the current mainstream of software to create a virtual environment. The fourth chapter details the animation production steps. The fifth chapter is the add script and controls, is to establish the last step of the virtual reality environment, some realization method about the interaction are discussed.
