During acrylamide polymerization in inverse emulsion,CuCl2·2H2O and ethanediamine was added to form complex initiation system with ammonium persulfate (APS) and which was oxidized to [Cu (EN) 2]2+. It can be concluded that[Cu (EN) 2]2+ has a effect of potential catalyst of reverse atom transfer radical polymerization (R-ATRP).Study of acrylamide polymerization reaction in inverse emulsion, when the concentration of [Cu (EN) 2]2+is 5.28×10-3mol/L, the content of emulsifier at 2%, reaction time is 6h, reaction temperature is 30℃,n[K2S208]:n[CuCl2·2H2O]:n[en]=1:1:2,final acrylamide conversation is 93.16%, and polyacrylamide emulsion showed good stability, the kinetic curve has a good linear relationship, the coefficient of linear correlation is 0.997 which indicating that the polymerization has controllability in the presence of [Cu (EN) 2]2+.When ethylene diamine ligands has replaced by AEO-9 thermostat ligands, we studied whether the thermostat ligands has the control effect of temperature to reverse atom transfer radical polymerization (R-ATRP) under different temperature. The results are as follows:(1) when the content of emulsifier at 2%, reaction temperature is 30℃, reaction time is 6h, the kinetic curve has a good linear relationship, with a linear correlation coefficient of 0.98, under above condition,CuCl2·2H2O and AEO-9 thermostat ligands was formed a complex, which concentration is 5.28×10-3mol/L, the concentration of initiator KPS is 4.7×10-4mol/L. (2) when the content of emulsifier at 2%, reaction temperature is 30℃, reaction time is 6h, the kinetic curve has a good linear relationship, with a linear correlation coefficient of 0.98, above this situation,CuCl2·2H2O and AEO-7 thermostat ligand was formed a complex, which concentration is 4.28×10-3mol/L, the concentration of initiator KPS is 5.2×10-4mol/L. Under the AEO-9 and AEO-7 thermostat complex system, after the reaction was carried out six hours, until no change happened in the rate of monomer conversion, raising the temperature to the cloud point temperature of thermostat ligands,the temperature is 60℃ and 58℃ respectively, the monomer conversion rate of two systems were significantly increased by nearly 10%, the final monomer conversion rate arrived nearly 97%, which has proved that two thermostat ligands has control effect of temperature in acrylamide R-ATRP reactions.
