This paper aimed at preparing organic.anion-nonionic montmorillonite with high basal spacing,goodthermal stability,good thixotropy property.Montmorillonite(MMT),nonionicsurfactant Trion X-100(OP-10),and anionic surfactants sodium stearate(SSTA),sodiumdodecyl benzene sulfonate(SDBS) and sodium dodecyl sulfonate(SDS) were used to prepare.anion-nonionic organic montmorillonite.X-raydiffraction(XRD),thermogravimetrianalysis(TGA),contactangle test,viscosity test,scanning electron microscope(SEM) analysis were used to characterize the structure,morphology the properties and the processing conditions of anion-nonionic organic montmorillonite.In this study, the effects of anionic surfactant types and MMT types on modification montmorillonite were investigated.Research on applicationcharacteristics of cation organic montmorillonite and organic.anion-nonionic montmorillonite in Polyethylene and Butadiene rubber were investigated.The results show that the three kinds of anionic surfactants(SSTA,SDBS and SDS)all could enter into MMT interlayers when nonionic surfactant OP-10 as the precursor.The basal spacings of SSTA/OP-10/MMT,SDBS/OP-10/MMT and SDS/OP-10/MMT reached 5.13 nm,4.29 nm and 3.73 nm respectively Meanwhile, SSTA intercalation reaction was more stable.Crystal structure of SDBS/OP-10/MMT was more regular.The contact angle of SSTA/OP-10/MMT was 72.5° while the contact angle of CTAB/MMT was 57.5°,which showed that anion-nonionic montmorillonite had good lipophilicity. Rotary viscosity test showed the anion-nonionic montmorillonite can be used as a thickener and the viscosity of.anion-nonionic montmorillonite at the rotational speed of 100S- was 2099mPa·s while the viscosity of.cation organic montmorillonite was 1358mPa·s.Turbidity test indicated that anion-nonionic montmorillonite had excellent dispersion and the turbidity of anion-nonionic montmorillonite was 51.2 while the turbidity of CTAB/MMT was 30.6.MMT types was an important influencing factors on the intercalationreaction.The expansion capacity is the key factor when anion-nonionicsurfactants modified MMT.The larger expansion capacity,the better effect of modification.Anion-nonionic organic montmorillonite had good dispersion in styrene butadiene rubber and polyethylene with lamellar structure existing in the polymer.With the existence of SSTA/OP-10/MMT,the tensile strength of styrene butadiene rubber decreased by 23.83%,the tensile strength of polyethylene increased by 30.35%,the flexural strength of polyethylene increased by 37.1%.
