In the process of producing the benzoic acid by toluene oxidation, lots of waste residue are produced, the conventional method to treatment this is burning away, however, it cause the waste of resources and environmental pollution beacuse these liquid containing a large amount of benzyl benzoate and 9-fluorenone that are high application value in industrial. Poly (ether ether ketone) is a kind of excellent performance engineering plastics, but the processing performance is poor and limits its application. In this paper, the 9-fluorenone was extracted in waste residue, and added the fluorene group in the polymer chain can improves the solubility of poly(ether ether ketone).The benzyl benzoate and 9-fluorenone are extracted in the waste residue according to the method of reduced pressure distillation, the yellow 9-fluorenone crystalester was obtain according a series of operation including hydrolysis, separation, reduced pressure distillation and recrystallization.9-fluorenone and phenol as raw material, using sulfuric acid method to synthetic 9,9-Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene. The influence of reaction conditions such as reaction temperture, reaction time, the quantity of catalyst promoter and reaction ratio on the yiled was studied, and then the best synthesis condition was confirmed, furthermore, the influence of slovent in the process of recrystallization was also studied. The melting point of 9-fluorenone and 9,9-Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene was characterized by DSC, and the structure were characterized by FT-IR and ’H-NMR, in addition, the product content was determined by liquid chromatographic.4,4’-difluorine diphenyl ketone and bisphenol AF as raw materials, using nucleophilic substitution reaction to synthesis poly(ether ether ketone). The influence of reaction conditions such as reaction temperture, reaction time, the volume of solvent, catalyst and solvent on the viscosity was investigated and the best reaction condition was confirmed.9,9-Bis(4-hydroxyphenyl)fluorene was added as third monmer into the poly(ether ether ketone), a series of fiuorene-containing poly(ether ether ketone)s were synthsised. The polymer structer and performance were characterized by FT-IR,1H-NMR, DSC, TGA, and universal tensile machine, the solubility of polymers was also tested. The results show that the glass transition temperture and thermal stability are impoved as well as the polymers can soluble in common solvents according to added the fluorenone group.
