Coated fine paper is one of the necessary high-end paper in the modern life and as a kind of high quality media carrier, is widely used in the cultural and packaging areas, has a good development prospect. In the 1980s, as the improve of people’s demand and the develope of papermaking technology, greatly stimulated the development of the industry of the coated paper, therefore, coated paper entered a boom period which never appeared before. Recently, due to the increase demand for coated fine paper and the rise of quality requirement, improve the quality and reduce the coat is very important and necessary.Coated base paper is the base material of the coated paper, has a very important affect of the art paper’s quality and production. In this research, PRC-APMP was used to replace BCTMP to made the coated base paper, then coated the coated base paper and tested the physical properties of the base art paper and art paper. The result of the experiment show that the indices of physical properties of coated base paper could reach or exceed GB/A of art paper. After PRC-APMP was used instead of BCTMP, the brightness was lower whereas other physical properties were equal. But the brightness of coated fine paper also can reach GB/A of art paper through coating. The test result also show that substitution of BCTMP with PRC-APMP to made the base paper can reduce color differences and improve brightness stability of the base art paper.In recent years, due to the rising of oil price which leading to higher price of latex, and starch is cheaper than latex because of the widely source. In this research, we used starch replaced latex in the pre-coated to improve the brightness of the art paper and reduce the cost. The result of the experiment show that use starch replace latex can improve the brightness and relieve the P.C number and color differences of the coated fine paper. The experimental results show that use starch replace latex can improve the brightness stability of coated fine paper.Brightness is an important indicator of the coated paper, we often by adding OBA during the productive process to improve whiteness. In the productive process, in order to have a good brightening efficiency OBA and carriers need to used together. The carriers used commonly are PVA、CMC and starch. In order to maintain the brightness stability of OBA, PVA and CMC are as the carrier of OBA been used alone. But in this research, we studied use PVA and CMC together as the carrier of OBA to research the affect of brightness stability of coated fine paper. It was found that the brightness of coated fine paper is the highest when used PVA alone, the brightness is the lowest when used CMC alone, and the art paper’s brightness is between only use PVA and CMC when used PVA and CMC together. After light aging test, the result is opposite. The experimental results show that the brightness stability of CMC is better then only use PVA and mixed use PVA and CMC.
