As one of the most important five means of transportation, pipeline transportation has become the artery of modern industry and national economy. With the development of pipeline industry, pipeline leakage occurs frequently, accompanying with the pipelines aging,inevitable erosion, abrasion and human destroying. The leakage accidents in pipelines transportation not only cause great loss of material, but also pollute the environment; what’s more, it may lead to serious casualty.In order to guarantee the pipelines work safely and minimize the losses caused by leakage accidents, it is necessary to study leakage detecting technology to raise the sensitivity of detection and accuracy of localization. Pipeline leakage detection is a multi-field object, which involved many subjects, such as pipeline hydrodynamics, thermodynamics, sensor technology,subtle signal detection and signal processing. The research on pipeline leakage detection and localization is carried out in this dissertation.The research status of pipeline leakage detection technology home and abroad is summarized in this paper, and the principles, methods, difficulties and solutions of the pipeline leakage detection technology is also described in detail. The analysis on propagation law of negative pressure wave and method of wave velocity calculation is given in it; Allowed to oil pipeline characteristics, analyze the principle of dynamic pressure wave leak detection technology and the key factors of influencing accurate positioning; Flow equilibrium theory is used in the paper to make the judgment that whether the leakage has occurred or not;Simultaneous signal collection between both the head and end of the pipe is realized by adopting GPS. More than a collection of all kinds of conditions for the development of the design pipeline leak detection system and the system in Shaanxi prolong oil pipeline transport company group Chuankou oil station to oasis oil station pipeline for verification, and achieved certain effect, in large amount of leakage when the system display accurate, but the system of small spill response is not very sensitive。.
