Because of Fullerenes’ unique structures and outstanding physicochemical properties, their derivatives havebroad applications in cosmetic materials, new energy batteries and biomedical field.The strong ability of accepting electron due to the conjugated structures make fullerenes good candidates as free radical scavenger which is referred to as "radical sponge". Fullerenes are also showed excellent oxidation resistance and this property can be applied in the field of cosmetics. Currently, various kinds of fullerene derivatives and complexes are applicable to the biology, but the difficulty of preparation restricts its promotion. Here, we report the scheme of large scale preparation of fullerene compounds and explored the antioxygenic property at the cellular level. The main contents include the following sections:1. Set up a stable and effective method of isolation and purification to get 99% high purity C60-2. C60-polyvinylpyrrolidone(PVP) complexes was obtained by high-energy Ball-Milling method which is simple and easy to operate. Moreover, This process without organic solvent, improved the security of the application of biological product, and the characteristics of product is stable. ESR tests show that the as-prepared material can remove hydroxyl radical efficiently, which is better than VC. Cell tests showed that the composite can effectively protect cells and reduce the damage of hydrogen peroxide and ultraviolet to cells. In the range of reasonable dosage, C60-PVP complex showed no dark toxicity and phototoxicity.3. Fullerene C6o/C7o/Gd@C82-PVP complex were also prepared through Ball-Milling method. This process without organic solvent, improved the security of the application of biological product, and the characteristics of product is stable. ESR tests show that the as-prepared material can remove hydroxyl radical efficiently.
