Fullerene has attracted broad attention for its unique structure and properties. As one of fullerene derivatives, the fullerene oxides can help to understand the properties of different chemical bonds on carbon cage. This paper, therefore, focuses on studying the structures and properties of fullerene oxides as follows:1.C70O was Synthestized under the condition of roomtemperature and visible light used the method of oxidation by O3.The reaction activity of the 8 different bonds on cage was contrasted by theoretical calculation. Its structure was characterized to be a,b-C70O.It was found that less than 1%of C70O began to lose an oxygen atom when heated up to 100 ? and all of them transformed into C70 completely under 110 ?.Further research shows that the deoxygenation of C70O is closely connected with the temperature. If the temperature is upon 300 ?,the carbon cage will be destroyed and turn into amorphous carbon when losing oxygen atom.As is well known that,it is extremely easy to form C70O when C70 being used or stored, which lead in unnecessary waste. The above result would provide for us an useful method to recycle the C70O.2.A method preparing easily and efficiently water-soluble fullerenol has been realized based on the fullerene oxides. In detail, the fullerene oxides were oxidized further by the OH· of H2O2 to form more hydroxyl groups on fullerene cage under 50?.The solubility of fullerenol is 59.8 mg/mL which is the highest at present as we known. This simple and green method will never introduce any other ion to be very convenient for following treatment.3.The radical removing performance of fullerenol was given in this section. Moreover, both the electrospinning films and electrostatic self-assembled films were fabricated and characterized based on fullerenol.
