Cyanide in metal plating, synthetic fiber, plexiglass and cyanide leaching of gold and many other areas have received the application, so it can be seen, cyanide current range of applications is very broad. With the widespread use of cyanide, lead to a lot of wastewater containing cyanide is discharged out of the ecological environment caused a serious threat and destruction, for human life and health also brings a great deal of risk, in many places it has been reported that cyanide poisoning. However, how to handle wastewater containing cyanide, currently there is not a very good way. Therefore, how a more economical way to handle wastewater containing cyanide, has become an urgent need to address a major problem.Because cyano(-CN) is a strong complexing agent, it is used extensively for cyanide cyanide gold extraction, cyanide plating metal(such as brass or copper, etc.) industry; as chemical raw materials, cyanide has been a lot of for synthetic rubber, fibers and dye industries. Wastewater containing cyanide will be a significant health and livestock produce, fish, human life is a serious threat to, or destruction of the ecological balance of the important factors. China provides the maximum permitted emission concentration of cyanide in the wastewater discharge standards. Integrated Wastewater Discharge Standard(GB8978-1996) sewage regulations the maximum permitted emission of total cyanide concentration as follows:(iron cyanide compounds) movie washing a standard of 0.5mg / L, twenty-three standard of 5.0mg / L; other units twelve standard of 0.5mg / L, three standard of 1.0mg / L. The gold processing plant cyanide content of up to several thousand mg / L, although with a lot of methods of wastewater treatment, but most factories discharge wastewater containing cyanide still exceeds emission standards(CN2 <0.5 × 10-4); although some emissions standards, but the processing cost is too high. For this reason, people have been looking for a simple, low cost, good effect of cyanide wastewater treatment.This article use the theory that CN- and Ni2+ can form a stable complex compound(lgβ=31.3), proposed a new method in removing cyanide by adsorption, using activated carbon as experimental material, and it is modified by loading nickel to get a new type of material in removing cyanide. Through the complex role between the loaded Ni2+ and the CN- in aqueous solution can remove the cyanide in solution. The modify and remove conditions of activated carbon were explored in details, the experimental results show that the first advantage of this method is high efficient in the removing of cyanide, not introducing the secondary pollution, fully able to meet the National emission standards(Our sewage integrated emission standards(GB8978-1996) provision that the sewage maximum permitted emission concentrations of total cyanide for general business is 0.5mg/L).Therefore, this method has good prospects in used for treating cyanide-containing wastewater.
