As the core function parts of the machine tools, the mechanical structure and performance of motorized spindle determine the overall performance of the machine directly. Therefore, researching on the construction, static and dynamic performances of motorized spindle unit is of important significance to enhancing its performance.The basic structure, working principle, critical technical problems about motorized spindle were researched in the paper. The critical construction parameters of the motorized spindle were solved as design required. The project finished the construction design in detail by CAXA and completed all geometrical models of the parts and assembly through Solid Edge modeling software. Also, the static & dynamic performances and structure optimization of the motorized spindle were studied with ANSYS software by FEA.(1) Some critical problems were studied in detail about construction design such as the form of structural, the parameter of spindles, choices of motor model and bearings, methods of lubrication and cooling mode. Finally, key parameters of the motorized spindle were confirmed and the whole structure was finished according to the basic structure and design requirements.(2) The geometric modeling methods in Solid Edge software were presented. By using the software, three-dimensional geometry model of all components of the motorized spindle had been established. At the same time the assembly of the spindle had been completed. Thus, the internal and external structure of product was displayed visually.(3) By using FEA method, the static & dynamic performances analyses of simplified spindle-bearing system finite element model were completed in ANSYS software. Further more, through analyzing the static stiffness, natural frequency, vibration mode of the spindle, the results certified the rationality feasibility of the design.(4) Based on the analysis of the static & dynamic performances of spindle-bearing system, to choose improving the static & dynamic performances of the spindle and decreasing spindle volume as the optimization target, and to optimize the spacing between the front or rear bearings, the distance between bearing and motor rotor, the spindle overhang by using the multi-objective optimization function integrated in ANSYS. The thesis finally gave the optimization results, and further comparison of the motorized spindle of the static and dynamic performance before and after optimization.
