Thin seam mining has been being a technical problem to China’s coal mining industry, and the fully mechanized mining is more difficult. Many coal mining companies reduce the thin seam mining for their own survival and development, the crux of the difficult is the small operation space, backward technology and equipment, as well as poor economic performance, which results in the low mining proportion of thin seam, and a large number of thin coal reserves are still in a sluggish state. If these reserves can not be mined in time, which will inevitably lead to a waste of resources, and the service life of the mine will be shorten. At present the majority of thin seam coal mining adopts conventional mining method with low efficiency and poor economic performance, which has been restricting the use of thin seam coal resources. Therefore, the development of a broader adaptation mechanized coal mining equipment, to achieve high efficiency is withthe great necessity and significance now.This issue took Xiandewang 1710 Face of Jizhong Energy Company as the study object, studied the characteristics of different kind of shearer, hydraulic support, scraper converyor, and proposed the principles and methods of equipment selection. That is to research, design, and produce of electric traction shearer so that the performance has reached the optimization.This issue provided valuable experience to the thin seam coaling under similar conditions through the study of key technology fir thin seam mechanized mining equipment, each coal mining company can learn from it basing on economic and geological circumstances. The outfit acting as a new technique, is with good promotional value and broad market prospects.
