With the fast developing of the natural gas industry, more and more gas pipelines are applied in use, after that, the issue of liquid loading in pipelines gets more attention. When transporting in the hypsography regions, the pressure, temperature and velocity of natural gas will change with the pipeline, which result in the change of gas physical property parameters and parameters of motion. To study the nature of the two-phase gas-liquid flow in gas pipeline and to uncover the rule of the liquid accumulation in gas pipeline, the theoretics of the multiphase flow should be studied, especially that of two-phase gas-liquid flow. The factor affected liquid loading mechanism is included of the component and physical characters of gas-liquid flow, the pipeline geometries etc. And,mechanism of liquid loading is explored, and then factor of gas-liquid flow pattern and liquid holdup theoretics in pipeline is also studied. As a matter of the fact, the judging formulas of some common flow Pattern chart are studied. By analyzing the viscidity of liquid, density of gas, gas or liquid velocity, diameter and obliquity of the pipeline, the factors of affecting the flow pattern are concerned. On the basis of the characteristics of the hilly-terrain pipelines and the formers’research conclusions, the modle of the typical simple hilly-terrain pipeline is summarized. With the VOF modle, a numerical model is developed in order to describe the two-phase gas-liquid flow in the hilly-terrain pipeline.By changing the parameters of the pipelines, the rule of the liquid accumulation can be concluded. Meanwhile, by stimulating the two-phase flow in one real gas pipeline, the rule of the liquid accumulation is proved to be true and effective.
