With the rapid development of China’s iron and steel industry, the domestic demand for iron ore is growing, while high imported iron ore prices seriously hampered the healthy development of the steel industry. Therefore it is important to strengthen the development and utilization of iron ore in iron and steel industry’s sustainable development Iron ore mineral resources are rich in Da Hong Shan Yuxi Mining Ltd. with 460 million tons of iron ore and an average grade of 36% geology, which makes it the main iron ore raw materials base in Kunming Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd.Da Hong Shan Iron Mine is a typical ancient marine volcano rock type ore which has complex ore properties. Iron minerals are mainly made up of fine hematite; limonite and gangue minerals are mainly made up of silicate and quartz minerals. It is iron which contains fine dissemination size of minerals that make it difficult in metal separation, upgrading and recycling.After nearly ten years of mining, great changes have taken place in the ore properties. The iron grade of ore reduces to about 35%. Content of magnetite decreases and complex silicate mineral content and enrichment of ore separation increases along with the production. Before 2008, Da Hong Shan Iron Ore Tailings from high grade of iron was up to 14%-15%, which caused a huge loss in ferrous metal. At the same time, silicon content in iron concentrate reached more than 9%, causing the subsequent smelting cost increase.In order to solve the above problem and to realize the comprehensive utilization of mineral resources, we carried out Experimental Study on magnetic concentrate improving quality Sec reduce silicon test, experimental research tailings drop tail Sec magnetic, magnetic tailings drop test study period total tailings continue to drop tail and tailings.experiment based on the improvement of mineral processing technology and utilization of tailing.For high silicate gangue physicochemical properties quite lean, fine complex structures, miscellaneous refractory red, limonite, for the first time innovative applications of magnetic-vibration Lo slipped-shaker-Centrifuge magnetic re-election-heavy joint process, adopt lean, thin, high silicate sorting miscellaneous difficult beneficiation. Through experimental research, tailings grade has reduced from 15.34% to 10.53% at the beginning and annual one million ton of iron ore can be recovered from the tailings; at the same time, the silicon content of the iron ore fell to 6.04 percent from 9 percent.In general, DaHongShan embarked on the road of efficient utilization of iron ore resources through research and application of the above tests. The continuous increasing of production scale and product revenue creates more than 80 percent of Dahongshan economy, which laid the basis for Da Hong Shan’s future development. It sets a perfect example in environmental protection because of efficient use of complex mining, reduction of energy consumption and emissions of tailings. Experimental studies show that(1) Sec centrifuge magnetic concentrate on improving quality and reducing silicon has resulted a good effect. When the ore concentration is between 18%to 26%, the grade of 51% to 55% of the ore sorting through the centrifuge can be obtained in a yield of 57% to 64% and recovery of 71%~78%, grade up to 64%~66%, SiO2 content is reduced to about 4% of the concentrate.(2) Sec magnetic iron using magnetic tailings drop-centrifuges-shaker joint process programs can be Sec magnetic tailings grade from 26% to 28% to 12.53%.(3) The period of magnetic iron using a coarse tailings down a fine sweep magnetic-Heavy joint process programs available grade, yield is 42.32%, respectively,37.72 percent of iron ore, tailings grade decreased to 6.46%.(4) The use of magnetic iron tailings drop-sorting process re-election plan, get the grade, recoveries were 53.11%,23.37% of iron ore, tailings grade dropped to 9.21 percent.Through experimental research, we successfully improve concentrate grade while reduce silicon content, meanwhile reduce the iron content in the tailings to achieve the comprehensive utilization of mineral resources.
