Due to its low prices of raw materials, environmental protection, non-toxic and easily degradable, Sucrose Polyester is concerned by the market, and widely used in food and pharmaceuticals, daily washing, machinery lubrication and other industries. The literature shows that olestra can be used as fabric finishing agents, imparts fabric softening and antistatic properties. Olestra belongs to oily substance and can’t be soluble in water. So it must be emulsified before being applied to textiles. Due to its ultra-high molecular weight, preparing high stability of sucrose polyester emulsion is difficult. In this paper, by compounding heterogeneous ether(T-8) and sorbitan fatty acid esters(Span80) as emulsifier, the optimal emulsion process was found and high stability of sucrose polyester emulsion was prepared through single factor and orthogonal experiments. Meanwhile, this paper also simulated its skin irritation text. In order to evaluate its application performance, the emulsion and commodity softener were applied on cotton and polyester fabrics respectively, and compared the softness and application performance of finished fabrics. After that, the soft mechanism of sucrose ester emulsion was researched.The following conclusions:Take Surface tension and particle size as indicator, compounded and filtered out the best emulsifier TO-8 & span80, its best HLB value of 9.8, TO-8 accounted for 63.6% in the composite emulsifier; the best emulsification process was found by single factor and orthogonal experiment : ratio of sefose and H2 O is 2,composite emulsifier concentration is 9%, emulsification temperature is 30 ℃, emulsifying time of 85 min, stirring speed of 2000 r / min, the sucrose polyester emulsions particle size down to about 190 nm under these conditions; by researching the particle size distribution, turbidity, viscosity, Ostwald ripening rate of olestra emulsion, the results shows the Ostwald ripening rate closes to zero, the emulsion can be stored more than 6 months and no layered mildew, meanwhile, the emulsion also has better stability in the applicable environmental conditions, but the temperature should not exceed 60 ℃; by irritation in vitro simulation experiments, we found that ZEIN and CBB-gelatin extraction can be all used to test the irritation of nonionic surfactants and its mixtures, the irritation of SEFOSE emulsion equals with TF-442, weaker than TF468 K, TF4503 B and TF449 B, belongs to the category of low stimulation or no stimulation.The fabric softness and drape are improved after finishing off the emulsion sucrose polyester, the flexibility tends to be balanced with the increasing of dosage, its softness perform worse than TF468 k and TF4503 B relatively, better than the multi-purpose TF449 B and fatty acid ester compound; the fabric surface roughness and bending stiffness decreased and crease recovery improved; and compared with other types of softeners, Compared with other type of softener, the fabric compiled by sucrose polyester resist yellow degeneration better, because of its molecular structure of unsaturated bond and its less activity, meanwhile, it belongs to the non-ionic compounds, so the SPE emulsion has smaller effects on color degeneration; But the washing resistance needs to be improved.The research about fiber of surface energy and friction coefficient show that sucrose polyester can reduce the surface energy, reduce static and dynamic friction coefficient of fibers, weaken the degree of fiber fibrillation, improve elasticity and surface smoothness of the fabric, impart the fabric softness and smoothness.
