Decorative base paper is a kind of new special industrial paper. The filling weight is usually more than 40%, some even higher. The filler are added to the slurry pool mixed with the pulp in the traditional production process of decorative base paper. There are a series of defects in this manner. In order to remove the disadvantages of production process and improve the quality, reduce the amount of filler in the production process compared with the traditional process, then coating on the paper to improve the quality.In this study it is mainly adopted paper making and coating on the surface of the paper. In the paper making process, with bleached kraft hardwood pulp, bleached kraft softwood pulp, titanium dioxide, additives for raw materials, make three different amounts of titanium dioxide plus decorative base paper(filling weight:20%,30%,40%). Then coating on the paper surface, use. titanium dioxide and clay as the pigment, polyvinyl alcohol(PVA) as adhesive. By changing the ratio of titanium dioxide pigment and clay are (respectively 50:50,60:40,100:0) the preparation of different coating formulations, coating the surface of the decorative base paper. Then, using the calendar for the coating paper, parameter is set. Calendering pressure is 30N. Calendering temperature is 70℃. Calendering speed is 5m/min. Finally, study the physical properties (quantitative, coating weight, whiteness, opacity, roughness, evenness, air permeability, tensile strength, suction height) and printability (color density and tone reproduction) of coated decorative base paper, and compared with the marketing decorative base paper to verify that coated decorative base paper is superior to the traditional method of production of decorative base paper. Then the use of dynamic permeability PDA analyzer to study the dynamic characteristics of different permeability of coated decorative base paper, a comprehensive comparison of the experimental results, obtained relatively better coating formulations for the decorative base paper.The final results show that:coated decorative base paper compared to the decorative base paper produced by the traditional process, whiteness increase 0.1%, a decrease of 6% roughness, evenness increase by 33%, the tensile strength increased by 340%; In addition, the color density and tone reproducibility of coated decorative base paper are better; Uncoated decorative base paper with filler weight 20% has the maximum degree of opening paper surface porosity and paper maximum internal porosity and the best printability. Add filler filling amount of 20%, the coating of titanium dioxide coated with china clay pigment ratio of 60:40 decorative base paper surface has the maximum opening degree, a large internal porosity, good printability; Add filler filling amount of 30%, the coating of titanium dioxide coated with china clay pigment ratio of 50:50 decorative base paper surface has the maximum opening degree, good printability; Add filler filling amount of 40%, the coating of titanium dioxide coated with china clay pigment ratio of 60:40 decorative base paper surface has a large internal porosity, good printability; Through performance comparison between the coating decorative base paper, the filling weight 20% of the coating decorative base paper has relatively good quality, and when the ratio of pigments is 60:40, the physical properties, printability characteristics and dynamic permeability of the coated decorative base paper are relatively good.
