Acetalization or Ketalization is widely used to protect carbonyl in multi step synthesis, and acetals and ketals are important synthetic intermediates and high value-adding chemical products, so the reaction is always important research field which draw lots of people’s attention. Organocatalysts had moderate catalytic efficiency, pollution-free features. However, the reaction of acetalization catalyzed by organic molecules with organic acid or acid catalyst which can produce proton, they provide is still the reaction of acidic environment. Therefore, the research goal of this thesis is to provide a selection of non-acid organic catalyst reaction environment, catalyzing the ketalization reaction under mild conditions. In order to investigate the catalytic activity and substrate adaptation, this paper choose cheap Eosin Y as catalyst for the reaction of acetalization and ketalization. Firstly, selecting acetalization of benzaldehyde and methanol as a model reaction, through screening of various influence factors of the reaction, we determined the optimum conditions of the reaction. On this basis, We are expanding the carbonyl compounds and alcohol compounds substrate, experimental results show that the reaction of acetalization catalyzed by Eosin Y has strong catalytic activity and substrate specificity, the highest yield of the reaction can be as high as 99%. At the same time, this article studies different substrate reactivity, and analyzes the reasons for the difference of the activities. In the expansion of the reaction. Finally, based on previous studies and our own experimental results, we propose a possible reaction mechanism catalyzed by Eosin Y.
