| More than 68% iron ore reserves are magnetite in our country, and now there is a great demand for high-grade iron concentrate because of the high steel production in our country. In order to strengthen Chinese steel industries’ competition capability in the world trade market, it is necessary for us to develop a new efficient magnetic separator.Column magnetic separator is a new type of high efficient magnetic separation equipment. However, with a short development time, its structural and properties are to be improved in order to avoid the magnetic mineral loss phenomenon, which often occur in the actual production of magnetic mineral called “black tailingsâ€. What’s more, the requirements of column magnetic separator for ore particle size are very high. To solve the problem of column magnetic separator, this study develop a new variable diameter column magnetic separator with fluid mechanics, electromagnetism, mineral processing andNewly designed variable diameter column separator has two parts. The size of the upper part of the cylinder is 40 mm and the lower part is 30 mm. A total of six sets of coils are used as excitation magnetic system. The purpose of variable diameter is to Increase the area of the upper part of the selection and reduce the flow velocity in the lower part of the selection, which can ensure the recovery of fine grained minerals.Theoretical research and practical research of variable diameter column separator shows that the recovery and concentrate grade of variable diameter column separator is better than conventional column separator’s. The experimental date of the tailings shows variable diameter column can recover fine particles of magnetic minerals effectively and the concentrate one can’t, which can prove the new column separator is better in sharpness of separation.By optimizing experiment of variable diameter column separator, we know the best position of ore feeding is the third coils of upper part, and the best distance of two coils is40 mm, the best position of coils is the top of the lower selection.The research on Dagushan, anqianchang, qidashan mineral processing plants’ ore with the optimized variable diameter column separator shows that no matter what kind of ore,its technical indexes are good in recovery of magnetite. Ore concentrate grade can be as high as 69.97%, but it can’t effectively recover hematite. |
