With the rapid development of C hina ā€™s aerospace, automobiles and shipbuilding industries, flank milling ruled surface workpieces with high machining efficiency are applied more and more extensively, such as aircraft wing, impeller blade and so on. Ruled surface is generated by straight line moving along baseline in space, it has complex geometric features, such as variable curvature, variable twist angle and so on. So these geometric features produce heterogeneous on processed surface microstructure after machining and then it is difficult to characteriz and evaluate workpiece quality. The high physical properties of ruled surface are closely re lated to surface microstructure. However, the measurement method, testing process and evaluation index in domestic and international standards exist many uncertainties. Therefore, researching of detection and evaluation of ruled surface microstructure is very important.This paper mainly studies the detection mechanism, effect factors and measurement regularity of surface microstructure based on a complex ruled surface ā€œSā€ specimen and develops a software platform based on Marsurf M300 C. Details are as follows:(1) Research of extracting modes, measurement parameters and evaluation methods of ruled suface microstructure. Analyzing the differences between Gaussian filter, 2RC filter and Motif, determines the optimal extracting mode of surface microstructure; analyzing the relationship between different combinations of sampling length, evaluation length and surface microstructure, determines reasonable measurement parameters based on the calculation of measurement uncertainty; the evaluation index can be determined through the analysis of evaluation method of surface microstructure.(2) The effect factors analysis of ruled surface microstructure. The location of its extreme value can be predicted through research on the relationship between ruled surface geometric features(curvature, cutter-orientation) and surface microstructure; through designing milling experiments, this paper analyzes milling parameters, include spindle speed, depth of cut, feed rate, influence on surface microstructure, establishes prediction model of surface microstructure, and on this basis, acquires the regularity of measurement parameters.(3) Compile calculation algorithm of surface microstructure based on Marsurf M300 C roughness profilometer. Through comparing the error of three different data combination methods, this paper determines the optimal splicing method, and analyzes the uncertainty of algorithm; through roughness and waviness measuring experiments, this paper verifies the correctness of calculation algorithm, and develops application platform based on the Marsurf M300 C.
