In petrochemical industry, shipbuilding, nuclear power, heavy equipment, and many other fields of welding in the process of production and installation, Industrial weld all need to pass strict weld appearance quality detection. So far, the testing process are made by artificial completed and have many years experience of inspection personnel records. In most cases, the weld surface defects detection still stays in the main rely on simple macroscopic observation and measurement, If use measuring instruments(weld size measuring scale) of the butt weld width, height, size of fillet weld Angle measurement, etc, Its scientific nature and accuracy have been inspectioned personnel to the influence of subjective factors, But for most of weld surface defects can only be qualitative detected, quantitative evaluation, it is difficult to meet the rapid and accurate detection of industrial requirements. And modern welding production is higher and higher to welding quality requirement, welding become the pursuit of the goal of high quality and efficiency, the use of advanced welding detection device on-line detection of the weld quality and knowledge becomes more important.In countries of weld appearance quality inspection standards, due to using artificial detection method, providing quantitative indicators also relatively coarse. Such as evaluation of a welding seam smoothness, alone height difference to determine, since choosing different when measuring, there are large difference between the measured results, and click on a limited number, can’t reasonable scientifically evaluate the appearance of weld quality. Development, therefore, is suitable for industrial weld appearance inspection requirements of the online detection system, has become the urgent requirement of modern welding industrial production.Scales in actual industrial production lines as the appearance of weld seam features, need how to deal with when weld appearance inspection, the related research is less. Therefore, this article through the line laser scanning weld contour, camera contour line, through image processing, coordinate transformation to get the contour data; For high-dimensional leastsquare method is used to fitting contour data, calculating the fitting contour line of the second derivative to determine the scope of the weld toe; And based on the fitting position deviation between the outline and the actual contour extraction of feature points, industrial weld shape parameter is obtained. Based on the above algorithm through LabVIEW development and debugging of industrial weld detection system hardware and software, the test shows that in view of the scales at the surface of the grain of weld the algorithm can be stable, accurate and fast detection. Industrial application shows that this system can be stable and weld profile data rapid acquisition. Through the system to realize the sampling data processing calculation, the result was accurate test results.
