As one of the most popular plastic, PVC is used in many aspects, and its production is in the second place in the world. However, in recent years, the capacity of PVC has been idled or even disused,result from the influence of financial crisis and the choice of market. So,nowadays, searching for a way to solve the redundancy of PVC’s capacity is the point. There are many practical and applicable ways to modify PVC. This article is based on this point,which is aimed at the fire resistance ABS, through the toughening modifications of PVC.This article used three different modifiers to toughening modification, such as powdered-nitrile rubber, liquid-nitrile rubber and new PVC impact modifiers-BOVC, and improved the lubricating property of PVC by self-making adipose wax A. Through the research of the samples’ mechanical property and microcosmic pattern, several conclusions are made as follows:(1) The craze and its related theories are not suitable for this article. SEM reveals: stress pattern occurred in the interface between PVC and NBR. Because of the good compatibility and combinability, NBR is changed in accordance with the plastic deformation of the PVC’s weak link. This special toughening model has something in common with the interface cavitary theory、rubber particle cavitary theory and percolation model, result in the proposal of the soft joint toughening mechanism to explain the phenomenon in PVC/NBR toughening model, which is in this article.(2) By changing the mix extent of the material, which means the mixed condition has different phenomenon in different mixed time, which is changing from the sea islands structure NBR to bulk'stratiform'filiform'cloudiness.(3) The first use of adipose wax A. There is good compatibility and lubricating ability between adipose wax A and PVC. A variety of polar groups combined with PVC will form complexation, so you can add enough adipose wax A and don’t worry about separating outand changing of property.(4) The changed regularity of the influence to the composite material between P-NBR and L-NBR is the same on the whole.However, the toughening result of P-NBR is better than L-NBR. P-NBR、L-NBR and BOVC, all of the above have good toughening result and the composite material which is made by them can reach the requirement of fire resistance ABS.
