To achieve scientific utilization of bamboo particle in solid waste from bamboo pulp and papermaking industry, bamboo particle flour was used in this work to partly replace wood fiber for preparing urea-formaldehyde moulded composite, in which property of raw material, process and performance of composite, and interfacial bonding mechanism of composite were investigated, thus providing basis for reducing solid waste from papermaking industry and relieving shortage of high quality wood resource in China. The main conclusions are summarized as follows:(1) For bamboo particle/wood fiber/urea-formaldehyde resin composite, optimal hot-pressing time, hot pressing temperature, bamboo particle content were respectively 120s,180℃, and 40%, with which modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity,24 h water adsorption, and 24 h thickness swelling of composite were respectively 39.2 MPa,3.1 GPa,18.0%, and 3.7%, thus meeting Chinese standard GB/T 11718-2009 for medium density fiberboard.(2) Bamboo paticle content, resin content, hot-pressing temperature, and hot-pressing time had significant influence (P<0.05) on modulus of rupture, modulus of elasticity,24 h water adsorption, and 24 h thickness swelling of bamboo particle/wood fiber/urea-formaldehyde resin composite.(3) Bamboo particle could give composite better waterproofness, mechanical strength, and thermal stability, and achieve better mixing effect of materials during preparation.
