In this research, wood powder and bamboo particle were used to prepare phenol-formaldehyde composite according to industrial moulding process, in which preparation and modification conditions were investigated and optimized. Main conclusions are as follows:(1) With resin impregnation, high speed mixing, and ball milling treatments on raw materials, we harvested composite with thin pre-hardening layer, indicating that these treatments were acceptable;(2) Physical and mechanical properties of composite were investigated in single factor experiment, according to which optimization with response surface methodology was further performed, indicating that optimal resin dosage, molding temperature, and molding time was respectively 55%,160℃, and 60s/mm;(3) According to mathematical model established with response surface methodology, optimal process of composite was accurately predicted, obtaining optimal flexural strength (43.78MPa), modulus of rupture (25.23MPa), and water adsorption (5.42%) respectively with (resin dosage,54%; molding temperature,157γ℃; molding time,60s/mm), (resin dosage,54%; molding temperature,160℃; molding time,51s/mm), and (resin dosage,50%; molding temperature,152℃; molding time,60s/mm);(4)Bamboo particle from pulp and papermaking residue was added in filler to modify composite, and 10%,20%, and 30% dosage by weight respectively caused 15.85%,38.98%,25.00% increase in flexural strength, and 21.24%,30.03%,24.90% increase in modulus of rupture, while water adsorption changed slightly with particle dosage.
