Oil slicks discharged from fishing ships not only affect the water quality, but also will have a negative impact on the growth of aquatic animals and plants if they are not handled in a timely manner. In this study, two materials were developed for the adsorption of the oil slick, which were effective for removal oil slick on the fishing ships moored territorial waters.In this study, oil-absorbing resin was prepared by suspension polymerization, and factors impacted the oil adsorption ratio were studied to determine the optimal synthesis condition. The oil absorption ratio for diesel fuel was up to 10.40g/g in ten minutes.In addition, this paper synthesized the hydrophobic modified melamine sponge by using in-situ growth of cobalt and then modification of octadecyltrichlorosilane. In the process of in-situ growth, the voids inside three-dimensional network of the melamine sponge were blocked if the initial concentration of Co(NO3)2·6H2O was too high, which will lead to reducing the oil adsorption of the modified melamine sponge; Conversely, the hydrophobic properties of the the modified melamine sponge became worse if the initial concentration of Co(NO3)2·6H2O was too low. This paper examined the effect to hydrophobic properties of the modified melamine sponge under different initial concentrations of Co(NO3)2·6H2O, the result show that the optimum concentration of Co(NO3)2-6H2O is 5mmol/L.Research showed that octadecyltrichlorosilane hydrolysis occurred first in an ethanol solution to form the silicone hydrolyzate alcohol, followed by hydrolysis product in combination with a secondary amine groups on the sponge skeleton, such that the hydrophobic group was bonded to a silicone sponge surface, which achieved the silanization of melamine sponge. However, hydrolysis products of octadecyltrichlorosilane contain HC1, which was corrosive. Therefore, it was necessary to control the silanated time to avoid corrosion modified sponge. This paper also examined the influences of different silanated time for the modified sponge, and the optimal silanated time was 5min.The results showed that the contact angle of the modified sponge reached at 157°, demonstrating a superhydrophobic surface. The adsorption ratio of the hydrophobic sponge for diesel fuel and water were 53.23 and 1.67 g/g, respectively.47.63 and 3.38 g/g of the adsorption ratios for diesel fuel and water can be achieved after reuse for 50 times. These indicated that the hydrophobic sponge has great performance on adsorption ratio for diesel fuel, oil-water selection as well as reutilization.
