Oily contaminated waste waters are currently a huge problem to the environment which mainly caused due to the contaminated waste water releases to the marine environment from industry and accidents of ships in the sea can release of spills oils or organic contaminants and also the leaking of crude oil and petroleum products which are very crucial natural resource brings tremendous changing the life quality of human being.An oil spill accident can have a number of direct and indirect effects on the environment and socio-economic impacts as it described by many reports in particular fisheries and aqua-culture,tourism and recreation,industry and human health are among the direct vulnerable.Due to these problems,the fabrication of oil adsorbents has received a good deal attention in recent year's.Various attempt carried out in these aspects to modify materials for better preparation of oil absorbents owing excellent ability for the application to solve the issues.In these paper we focused on general view of oily waste water impact pollution and their proper remediation in the separation technology of oil /water mixtures and more emphasis is given on the modification fabrication of oil adsorbent material to adsorb oils from water surfaces with effective performance which almost accommodate the ideal properties of oil sorbent material such as being superhydrophobicity water repellency,reusability,mechanical strength,low cost and environmental compatibility taken in to account.This study give a particular attention on the fabrication of a modified melamine sponge is performed by using commercially available melamine sponge immersion with 2% Octadecyltrichlorosilane(OTS)and 2% Methyltrimethoxysilane(MTM)in toluene solution respectively.The obtained modified sponges observed by scanning electron microscope(SEM).The hydrophilicity of the modified material changed to superhydrophobic as it contact angle measurement confirms +152 as a result of surface roughness modification and nonpolar alkyl group(R)introduce at the interface.The modified melamine sponge exhibits rapid and extreme selective absorption for various organic liquids.For all tasted organic liquids the absorption capacities falls between the range of 46 g/g and 164 g/g and the highest result achieved for chloroform owing the highest density.The absorption efficiency does not deteriorate after it was reused 170 times confirms excellent recyclability.The fabricated Oil absorbent material shows excellent performance and extraordinary properties with effective clean up of oil from water surfaces due to their low densities,high porosities,good elasticity,flexibility,recyclability,low cost,easy applicability and environmental friendliness makes preferable and selective removal of oils from water surface and promising material for oily waste water treatment and oil spill clean up in the environmental remediation under different circumstances.
