With the development of circulating cooling water system adding agent technology, how to accurately determine the concentration changes caused by the change of the water and chemical degradation or decomposition and achieve agent supplement automatically has been one of the goal that the water treatment workers and researchers pursued. Tracer water treatment agent can avoid corrosion, scaling or waste of resources caused by the traditional way.The online analysis and automatic adding agent has been achieved. At the same time, with the improvement of the life quality, people prefer to comfortable, refreshing light cotton clothing and textiles. How to get the fluorescent whitening of fabric efficiently and stably has become a hot research in a long time. The coumarin compounds have many advantages in the visible spectral range, such as strong fluorescence, high fluorescence quantum yield and good photochemical stability. Those advantages can solve the above problems perfectly. It has important practical significance. In the paper, A novel coumarin fluorescent monomer, N-(4-methyl-2-oxo-2H-chromen-7-yl) acrylamide (FM), was synthesized by two step from 3-aminophenol and ethyl acetoacetate.Through the mechanism of free radical copolymerization, ammonium persulfate as initiator, isopropyl alcohol as chain transfer, the FM then reacted with acrylic acid (AA) (1:5) to produce the acrylic acid copolymer (FM-AA) containing fluorescent group. The fluorescence property and scale inhibition of FM-AA were investigated. The results showed that the relationship of fluorescent intensity and concentration was linear with the correlation coefficient(R) of 0.97021, and the lower detection limit was 1.2×10-3mg/L. The copolymer was an excellent inhibitor against deposition of CaCO3. The scale inhibition ratio of CaCO3 could reach 81.3% when the copolymer concentration was 20 mg/L. It was found that by SEM, FM-AA has obvious effect on CaCO3 scale with regard to its dispersion and crystal lattice distortion capacities.The copolymer containing coumarin group (FM-AA-AMPS) was prepared by radical copolymerization of FM, acrylic acid (AA) and 2-acry-lamido-2-methyl propanesulfonic acid (AMPS). The fluorescence property and scale inhibition of FM-AA-AMPS were investigated. The results showed that the relationship of fluorescent intensity and concentration was linear with the correlation coefficient(R) of 0.98783, and the lower detection limit was 1.0×10-2 mg/L. The copolymer was an excellent inhibitor against deposition of CaCO3. The scale inhibition ratio of CaCO3 could reach 86.9% when the copolymer concentration was 20 mg/L. The capacity of dispersing iron oxide was pretty good. SEM and XRD indicated that the normal growth of CaCO3 scale was blocked. The produced CaCO3 precipitate was the mixture of calcite, vaterite and aragonite.The copolymer containing coumarin group (FM-AA’) was prepared by radical copolymerization of FM, acrylic acid (AA) (4:1). The fluorescence property of FM-AA’ was investigated. The results showed that the relationship of fluorescent intensity and concentration was linear with the correlation coefficient(R) of 0.99803, and the lower detection limit was 9.4× 10-2 mg/L. In the detergent application experiments, the fabric became obvious whitening and light resistance after the cycle washing. The interaction of FM-AA’ and surfactants showed that this interaction and the surfactant cluster by itself was a kind of competition relationship.The copolymer containing coumarin group (FM-AA-SAS) was prepared by radical copolymerization of FM, acrylic acid (AA) and sodium allylsulfonate (SAS). The fluorescence property of FM-AA-SAS was investigated. The results showed that the relationship of fluorescent intensity and concentration was linear with the correlation coefficient(R) of 0.97837, and the lower detection limit was 1.4×10-2 mg/L. In the detergent application experiments, the fabric became obvious whitening and light resistance after the cycle washing. The interaction of FM-AA-SAS and surfactants showed that this interaction and the surfactant cluster by itself was a kind of competition relationship.In the paper, four kinds of polymers were synthesized. When they were in a relatively low concentration, the relationship of fluorescent intensity and concentration is linear, and the detection limit is lower. The copolymer’s (FM-AA and FM-AA-AMPS) scale inhibition efficiency is high, and dispersion performance is good. The copolymer’s (FM-AA’ and FM-AA-SAS) fluorescent whitening performance is high, and light stability is good. These copolymers have favourable dispersion performance, application prospects and market value.
