With the rapid development of Chinese economy, the demand of petroleum has become larger in our country. The abundant oil reservoir of low permeability field has become popular. But the low-permeability reservior has extremely complex geological condition. For instance: low permeability, narrow sand body, thin effective thickness, poor fluidity, scanty reservoir, subpressure in reservoir and so on. All in all, there is no doubt that it is very difficult to exploit. So how to develop it effectively has became a common problem in both here and abroad.Advanced water injection can reasonably compensate formation energy of reservoir, maintain a high formation pressure, prevent permeability of the low permeability reservoir decrease and avoid the loss of productivity. Also, it can improve the driving differential pressure, overcome the starting pressure gradient, improve conformance efficiency and recovery ratio, reduce the degassing radius, decrease seepage resistance and improve oil production rate.This paper analyses the present technical status of the development of low-permeability oil fields both China and overseas. The main example analyses the geological structures, the characteristics and their effects of N block in Chaoyanggou oilfield. Using advanced water injection in N block of Chaoyanggou oilfield, we can see that this application has achieved obvious effects. Oilfield practices also show that advanced water injection is an effective water-injection pattern. It can improve the producing degree and development effect in low-permeability oilfields.
