The problems of dwindling fossil resources, global greenhouse effect and environmental pollution caused by the combustion of fossil resources have become increasingly serious. Researchers have to take more and more attention on the development of green, clean, cheap and sustainable energy. Biomass are considered to prepare sustainable alternative products to replace fuel based on petroleum resources in the future. The industry applications of biomass are based on improving the competitiveness for biomass resources, developing preparation methods for inexpensive platform molecules and efficiently transferring platform molecule to fuels and chemicals.Furfural(FFA), which is one of the important platform molecules, can be obtained from hemicellulose in lignocellulosic biomass resources. The major use of FFA is to produce furfuryl alcohol and the other downriver industrial products are developed little. Therefore, further researchs to expand the utilization of FFA are not only important for the industry, but also practically necessary.Cyclopentanone(CPO) and cyclopentanol (CPL), which are the fine chemical materials, have been used to prepare Jasmine family fragrances. They are also used to produce anti anxiety drug buspirone in the field of medicine. Because of its good solubility of various resins, CPO has been widely used as solvent in the electronics industry. Due to the characteristics of high hydrophobicity, low latent heat of solvent evaporation, difficultly forming peroxides, easily drying, etc., Cyclopentyl methyl ether and cyclopentyl ethyl ether have been used as solvents for Grignard reactions, coupling reactions and other important chemical reactions. The dimerization products are the excellent liquid fuels. The demand of CPO and CPL are greater than million tons annually. Therefore, it will be highly significant if CPO and CPL can be efficiently prepared from biomass-based molecule FFA.We prepared a series of CuCo alloys by different methods. We found that CPO and CPL could be selectively obtained over CP(co-precipitation method) alloys and OG(sol gel method) alloys, respectively. We have studied the effects of different alloy supports, Cu loadings, alloy calcination temperature, reused times, hydrogen pressure and preparation methods of alloys in rearrangement reaction. The surface morphology, surface area and composition of alloys were studied by XRD, XPS, BET and ICP-AES and TEM characterization.
