The article used mechanical smash for the preparation of superfine powder of plant flowers which can fulfill maximum utilization of them. The plant flowers including rose and safflower in the article. It studied the preparation technology and process of superfine powder of plant flowers, used infrared analysis and grain size analysis to test the powder, finally studied the application of them in powdery cake. The main content of the article as follow:Firstly, vacuum freeze drying were used in raw materials of rose and safflower, the optimum craft parameters were studied, included the prefreezing temperature and time, the condenser temperature, the sublimation drying’s condenser vacuum degree and shelf temperature along with time, the analytic drying’s shelf temperature and time. The results showed that the water content of plant flowers after vacuum freeze drying was less than 4.0%.Secondly, the bi-directing rotating ball mill was used in crushing dried rose and safflower, used the grain size analysis to detect the crush result, explored the optimal parameters: loading coefficient, cylinder speed, agitator speed, ball material ratio, grinding ball type, grinding time. The particle size (d50) of superfine powder of rose is 7 μm and safflower is 6μm under the optimum technical conditions.Then the particle size of superfine powder of plant flowers were tested under the appropriate conditions, the raw materials and superfine powder product of plant flowers were tested by infrared spectroscopy. The results show that under the right conditions, the particle size of superfine powder of rose and safflower both are less than 10 μm. The IR spectras show that the active ingredients of plant flowers are still remained.Finally, the obtained superfine powder of rose and safflower were used to make powdery cake, explored the best formula of the powdery cake of rose and safflower:the added proportion both are 10%, the added particle size are respectively 7 μm and 6 μm. The production tests of the powdery cakes show that the powdery cakes obtain a better quality.
