In the production process of the workpiece, due to friction between the tool and the tool, the tool surfaces are prone to wear, which affects the machining accuracy of the workpiece.Therefore, we should understand the real time working status of tool, and test wear parameters of the processing tool. In the production process, detecting wear parameter of tool and grasping wear state of the tool, could effectively avoid the scrap workpiece, or the machine failure resulted by scrapped, and the economic losses could be effectively avoided.By the machine vision detection technology, this article explores the image acquisition of after opposing flank cutter; with the measure of Matlab image processing technology, we realize the tool flank wavelet denoising, edge extraction and subpixel edge detection. During the image shooting, the image is affected usually by attachments on the tool or the light, etc. Features of the image are not very clear, de-noising wavelet could be needed. This article focuses on the study of wavelet de-noising algorithms. Firstly, this paper compares and analyzes the existing denoising principle and the traditional denoising principle; to deal with the image by experiments; from the data and the visual, this paper compares advantages and disadvantages of the algorithm. For questions existing in algorithm such as unable continuous derivation, image blurred after treatment, and edge deletion. This paper constructs a new adaptive algorithm wavelet function based on LMS criterion, as a good solution of questions above. In the calculation of cutter flank wear, the traditional calculation method is improved. For the amount wear in calculation, we calculate the amount of wear area, instead of the calculation of the maximum amount of wear in one direction, to make the results reflect betters the true state wear of the tool. To the measure of calculation, solving the amount of wear before the approximate figure for the area improved by sub-pixel edge detection, we calculate the amount of wear by the column scanning mode.During the calculation of wear tool, this paper analyzes advantages and disadvantages of one-dimensional parameter measurement and two-dimensional parameter measurement, existing in parameter measurement of cutter flank wear. In this paper, the scanning sub-pixel columns is proposed, differ from the area approximation, used frequently in wear area measurement. The scanning sub-pixel columns improves not only the accuracy, but also the computing speed. By comparison with the existing methods, the proposed method of calculation is proved reasonable and effective.
