The casting residual stress is the main reason which leads the stability and reliability of precision of the important components of machine tool in using. So it’s a concerning problem for us to forecast and eliminate the casting residual stress of the basic large components of machine tool. Therefore, this paper takes KHB100 series of machine tool bed of Shenji Group Kunming Machine Tool Co., Ltd. as a research object, which does a series of research work about machine tool bed, from the existence of the casting residual stress to the elimination of the thermal aging residual stress. What provides a theoretical basis for the actual production. There is main research work:(1) Building the 3D model for KHB100 series of machine tool bed with the help of Pro/E. According to the casting manufacturing technique of Kunming Machine Tool Co., Ltd., set casting technique parameter and conduct numerical simulation of machine tool bed of casting process with the help of ProCAST. Then, getting the temperature filed and residual stress filed from the casting process of machine tool bed. Analyzing the temperature field of mold filling and solidification process, and research the residual stress field and the residual stress of the key parts.(2) As for the KHB100 series of the machine tool bed casting, measuring the residual stress of the guide way and analyze the residual stress of measured. Comparing the results of measured and numerical simulation and analyze difference between measured and numerical simulation.(3) Leading the residual stress field which getting from ProCAST software into ABAQUS software. According to the thermal aging technique of Kunming Machine Tool Co., Ltd., conducting numerical simulation of thermal aging process, analyze the residual stress field of thermal ageing and residual stress changing of key points, evaluate the existing thermal aging process. Changing the parameter of thermal ageing process, and conduct numerical simulation of thermal aging process after changed the parameter. Then, analyzing the thermal aging process after changed the parameter and evaluate the thermal aging process after changed the parameter.
