Large diameter well refers to the bore hole size greater than 12-1/4" hole which compare with the normally size well(8-1/2" and 12-1/4"). The shallow directional well technology can be saving the directional period and reduce the directional drilling risk in complex and deeper formation because of start drilling in soft formation and big size hole. This technology take higher application value in extended reach well and cluster well.The author analysis and research the risk and problem when directional drilling in shallow large diameter well and provides the methods of solution, including but not limited, the big size bit application analysis, the matching analysis of the down hole motor and drilling bit, bottom hole assemble mechanical and hydraulic analysis, building up rate control in shallow formation, anti-collision in the cluster wells, etc. The author combined with the completed directional well data in the large diameter well, formed a complete set of technology guidance scheme, this scheme was verified and development in the WQ2 project cluster wells drilling process.The mature shallow large diameter well directional drilling technology will be one of the specifically technical at domestic and overseas. Research of this paper to be provides the powerful technical support, so the research has broad application prospect, can be achieve great economic benefit and social benefit.
