The extended reach drilling technology is one of the most advanced drilling technologies at present, and universal use in the exploration and development of offshore field, shallow sea oilfield, fault block oilfield and geographical limitation or high environmental requirement oilfield. It can increase the reservoirs bare area and improve the oil and gas recovery efficiency and enhance production from the single well. Benefit by reduce the quantity of single well in the field, it can short the costing and bring the remarkable economic benefit and social benefit.In this paper analyse the difficulties in combination with the practical ERW drilling operation from the aspect of hole cleaning problem, high drag and torqure, borehole stability and well quality by hardly control of trajectory. Following combining the development condition of ERW in the Cheng Hai-1 oilfield, research on optimizing trajectory by introducing emended catenary profile, research and develop the drilling fluid system for extended reach well to satisfied the requirement in exploit Cheng Hai-1 oilfield, through optimization research on engineering parameter to guarantee the hole cleaning, optimizing casing floating running technology to run in casing in high friction hole condition, through apply these research to impove the efficiency in the development of ERW in this oilfield.
