Multi-position progressive die is one type of cold stamping dies and is characterized by high integration process, multi-function, high precision, high efficiency and long life when making a comparison with other moulds. The traditional mould design asking for high requirement of theoretical level and rich design expericence for mould design engineers, which brings about great difficulty to the the design and production of progressive die. With the development of computer mumerical simulation technology, before manufacturing mould, the computer mumerical simulation technology based on CAE technology can make defect prediction for mould process.As an important industrial material in nuclear industry, the application of zirconium alloy will have great significance in promoting development of nucelar power. However, there is little research on the stamping process of zirconium alloy material in our country, which greatly restricts its application scope. Therefore, the development of research on stamping performance of zirconium alloy material is of extremely important value.This paper makes researches on related basic mechanical parameters of zirconium alloy for stamping performance on the basis of special parts localization subprojects of one national major-science and technological project. Making researches on multi-position stamping process of special parts which takes zirconium alloy as materials with the help of computer numerical simulation technology, attain multi-position stamping process of special parts by analyzing the structural characteristics of parts and confirm numerical simulation technology program with a combination of single-featured optimization and integrally formed optimization for parts; predicting formed defects of parts by making numerical simulation for parts, adopting process method to improve integrally molding defect of parts and making the final parts formability to meet the dimension accuracy and usage performance as is listed on drawings, comparing parts formability under different process parameter combinations and attaining the best parts stamping process parameters; finally making data exchange between simulation result in CAE software and progressive die design module PDW in 3D design software UG to realize rapid design for stamping mould, with the help of computer aidedmanufacturing technology, realizing rapid processing and forming of mould parts and finally inputting mould manufacturing data to CNC machine tools to make stamping mould for realistic production; making formability detection and analysis of special parts by actual stamping and verify effectiveness and feasibility of computer numerical simulation based on CAE technology and computer aided design and manufacture in the process of multi-positioned progressive die design.
