Research On The Design Of Bamboo-culm Furniture Based On Structural Innovation

Bamboo is a kind of excellent green,environment protecting and sustainable material.Recent years, with the green design concept has been recognized,bamboo has been more and more favored by designers in furniture design. Bamboo has been used in furniture for a long history.Traditional bamboo furniture has been widely used in people’s life and adored by all ranks of people. In the East, especially in China, with thousands of years of bamboo culture, traditional bamboo furniture carries profound cultural connotation. With the development of society, improvement of living standard and aesthetic consciousness,people’s demands for furniture is not only to meet the basic functional requirement,but also to put forward higher requirements and expectations on the environmental protection and spiritual connotation in which the bamboo furniture is popularized into people’s life.This paper takes the round bamboo furniture as research object based on the present situation and existing problems of in-depth analysis on bamboo furniture and its structure. It’s pointed out that the "structure" is the fundamental problem of the bamboo furniture to be solved in the present, and carried out the design and research of the bamboo furniture based on the structure innovation.First of all, we analyzes deeply the round bamboo furniture and its structure through the literature method, field survey method, systematic analysis method and image acquisition method.and concludes the round bamboo furniture developing situation and existing problems of its structure to provide a theoretical reference for the innovative design of the structure of the round bamboo furniture.Based on above research,it’s proposed that we can take the "round bamboo local injection enhancement method" and "developing exclusive hardware connectors method" to create and design new structure form of the round bamboo furniture by referring to other excellent structure form,and designed two series of a total of eight kinds of new round bamboo furniture structure forms combined with the design principle of the round bamboo furniture,which include the T mortise-tenon joint by local injection for round bamboo, the chuck mortise-tenon joint by local injection for round bamboo, the eccentric connecting piece structure by local injection of plastic to round bamboo, local injection of round bamboo adjustable angle three one connector structure, local injection of round bamboo embedded hardware structure, L type folding round bamboo structure, bamboo X type folding structure andhardware connectors to the three round bamboo structure. Finally, based on the above researches, the innovative structure is applied to the round bamboo furniture design to verify the rationality of the design according to the design principle of the round bamboo furniture.On one hand,this research can provide some theoretical guidance for the structure design of the round bamboo furniture.On the other hand,a series of innovated round bamboo furniture structure can improve the current situation of the lack of innovation in the round bamboo furniture structure,and several round furniture products designed by author can get an infusion of fresh blood into the round bamboo furniture market.
