Based on contact mechanics and elastic-plastic mechanics, this paper focuses on the role of ultrasonic rolling in the whole experimental process. The experiment shows that ultrasonic vibration in rolling process can improve the surface status and mechanical property effectively. And within the scope of the specific pressure, ultrasonic rolling has a unique advantage compared with traditional rolling way.The paper clarifies the mechanism of ultrasonic rolling before the experiment. Based on the research achievements of predecessors and the relevant knowledge of contact mechanics, some parameters about rolling process are derived through mathematical formula. The main change of part performances is appearance of residual stress, so numerical analysis about residual stress is made in mechanics analysis process. In an ultrasonic rolling system, the amplitude-change pole is one of the most important part. So to design and make a cheap and applicable amplitude-change pole becomes a key step, and it also affects the effect of rolling test. The rolling experiment is based on the ordinary lathes and the untreated 45#steel as a test-piece. It puts a certain initial static pressure through the rolling tool head on the surface of test-piece in the excitation of ultrasonic wave. In this article, the key parameters are initial rolling reassure, revolving speed, feeding value and the method of lubrication. In addition, the surface parameters are roughness and hardness. When the initial rolling pressure lies in the range of 50-80 N, the coverage rate of ultrasonic rolling exceed the common rolling way. Within this scope, hardness on the surface of s test-piece is proportional to the initial rolling pressure and rotating speed, but it is inversely proportional to the feeding rate. Higher initial rolling pressure, higher speed and good sufficient lubrication can contribute to the lower the roughness of the test-piece surface. The above rules can be summed that the rolling parameters have influence on the rolling sufficiency of test-piece surface. And the more sufficient of the rolling, the more meticulous of the metal’s internal organization, so the fineness and hardness of test-piece surface can improve. In addition, the amplitude-change pole and dynamic rolling process are simulated through WORKBENCH in this paper. Therefore, it can verify the reliability of design and the effectiveness of experiment.
