Petroleum is an important energy reserve of national development and oil exploration concerns the national oil production and industrial development. Petroleum is non-renewable resource, therefore the principles of scientific planning and exploiting must be obeyed. In order to save energy, reduce emissions, cut down labor costs and improve the production efficiency of the drilling process a convenient automatic production technology is needed. Due to the rapid development of electronic technology and control techniques remote monitoring system is becoming more and more common in the oil fields.This thesis firstly introduced the current researches on oil field communication and monitoring techniques at home and abroad. Then, based on the actual working environment by analyzing and comparing different communication techniques, a suitable communication strategy is chosen: wired communication and wireless communication are combined to make a stable and reliable data communication network which fulfills the need of data information transfer on the worksites of the oil fields. Finally, the function design and implementation of the monitoring and controlling system is introduced. Combined with the production requirements, the parameters to be collected and the orders to be executed during the oil pumping unit working process are determined. The collection and orders execution work is done by the lower frequency converter. The system is based on.NET framework, using C# as the program language, and is developed in the Visual Studio 2010 environment. The monitoring system displays the collected information in the form of data and graph and saves the data to the background database, achieving both instant display and historical record. In the data processing procedure, soft measurement technology is adapted in the system to process the data from the power grid side which can realize real-time monitor of the impact the pumping unit has on the grid side.The system is debugged under the laboratory environment. The results show the reliability of the data communication module, no error is occurred during the data transferring process. The system interface is friendly concise and clear and the operation is convenient. The system can properly monitor the state and control the work of the lower machines.
