As one of the main equipment for underground roadway drivage, boom-type roadheader is the fully-mechanized coal winning equipment including cutting、walking、loading and transporting mechanisms. The development of Boom-ty Pe roadheader makes the mine roadway drivage’s speed and efficiency is greatly improved. Boom-ty Pe roadheader’s drivage efficiency, the shape of excavation face and service life is largely affected by the characteristics of the cutting unit. The hydraulic system is one of the core technologies. The characters of the hydraulic system are one of the most important impacting factors affecting the whole roadheader, therefore studying hydraulic controlling system of Boom-ty Pe roadheader’s cutting unit has an important significance in the development of China’s roadheader.The hydraulic system of Boom-ty Pe roadheader’s cutting unit was considered as the main research object of this paper. Firstly, the change curves of cutting head theoretical force is obtained by the theory study. According to the characteristics of the working condition of Boom-ty Pe roadheader, the change curves of cutting head force is obtained by simulation analysis when the optimal parameters. The results of theory study are validated by simulation calculation.Secondly, The control mode of the hydraulic system is emphatically studied considering the improved hydraulic system. The principle of hydraulic system is designed.Thirdly, The simulation models of main components are set up. The simulation calculation model of hydraulic system is established in different control modes. Through the simulation analysis, The rationality of the improved hydraulic system is verified. At the same time, The change laws of the dynamic response and control properties of the hydraulic cylinder’s velocity and pressure is studied respectively under different control modes.Finally, the concept and definition of compliance of hydraulic system were proposed considering the situation that Boom-ty Pe roadheader often encounter the condition of sudden load in the process of cutting, and to evaluate the performance of the improved hydraulic system. The compliance of before and after the improvement’s hydraulic system is studied by reference to practical engineering parameters. The change curves of influence of main components on hydraulic system’s compliance is obtained. At the same time, the change curves of the whole hydraulic system is obtained. The rationality of the improved hydraulic system is verified.The study method and analysis results offer reference for the design,and optimization of the Boom-ty Pe roadheader,which have guidance for the engineering practice.
