With the rapid development and upgrade of numerical control technology, CNC manufacturers have developed open CNC systems by exploiting PC hardware and software resources, which have characteristics of interoperability, portability,scalability and compatibility. Based on the motion control card of YK8A04-P, a construction scheme and its implementation technology of open CNC system is proposed. In order to improve this situation of the NC personnel training in colleges and universities, we design a numerical control teaching platform based on motion control card. The platform of software and hardware resources can be used to carry on the numerical control system of secondary development, improve students’ practical ability, for the cultivation of high-quality talents in the field of CNC.The numerical control teaching experiment platform is researched on the motion control card of YK8A04-P in this paper.Firstly, mechanical parts and electrical drives are selected, including the ball screw, guide rail, linear bearings, servo motor, servo drive, etc. Then, the 3D geometric model of the teaching platform is established in CAD software, followed by the feasibility analysis of the structure. Finally, the actual model is created by machining and assembling according to the manufacturing processes based on the CAD model.Secondly, the installation and debugging of the servo drive motor are accomplished, after the configuration of PC and control circuits through the IO ports installed on the motion control card. The operations manual control 、 G code generation is realized by using the control system developed on the Lab VIEW and the control function embedded in motion control card.Last, the practice of teaching application is carried out, and G codes is compiled and executed on the teaching platform.The application of the numerical control teaching platform can well make up thetight resources. It is reasonable, reliable, and capable of providing good training for the raise of numerical control talented persons.
