In this paper, in order to improve anti-corrosive performance of epoxy coatings coated metal substrate, pigments or containers loaded with inhibitor was added in the epoxy. The modified coating can be widely used in heavy-duty anticorrosive field. The added pigments have the property of environment friendly, energy conservation, etc.Coating adhesion, flexibility, DSC and other properties of the modified coating were investigated. The main results of this study listed as follows.(1) The dispersion of aluminum tripolyphosphate modified by KH560 in epoxy coatings was improved. The flexibility, adhesion, impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and salt spray test of the coating was tested. The results show that that adding modified aluminum tripolyphosphate improved cross-link density of epoxy coating, enhanced the barrier properties of coating, reduced the corrosion rate of the metal substrate.However the property of coating adhesion and flexibility decreased. The coating showed best corrosion resistance when 15wt% of modified aluminum tripolyphosphate was added in epoxy.(2) LDH-Mo was prepared by coprecipitation method. After LDH-Mo soaked in the NaCl solution for a period of time, we observed that releasing of molybdate ion from Molybdate intercalated hydrotalcite was initiated by Cl- ion. The dispersion of molybdate intercalated hydrotalcite modified by KH560 was improved in epoxy coatings. As a result, the corrosion resistance of epoxy coating improved, and the coating showed best corrosion resistance when 10wt% of modified molybdate intercalated hydrotalcite was added.(3) Si O2-HQ and LDH-Mo modified by KH560 were added to epoxy coating as acomposite pigments. The property of epoxy coating was evaluated by study flexibility,adhesion, impedance spectroscopy(EIS) and salt spray test of the coating. The results indicated that flexibility and adhesion of epoxy coating improved obviously, The best corrosion resistance of the coating were obtained when 0.11wt% of Nano-silica loaded with 8-hydroxyquinoline was added.(4) Corrosion resistance of epoxy zinc-rich paint containing various amount of KH560 modify molybdate intercalated hydrotalcite was studied by using EIS test. The results indicated that corrosion resistance improved when pigments added in the coating. The service life of coating could be extended. Coating porosity decreased and coating resistance increased by adding modified pigment. When adding 10wt% of KH560 modified molybdate intercalated hydrotalcite the coating showd best corrosion resistance.
