Natural gas, as a clean and high-quality energy, plays an vital role in both optimizing China’s energy consumption structure and improving the atmospheric environment.Therefore, natural gas will become one of China’s major energies in future. Spinning technique, often used in the processing of various axisymmetric rotary member, is a modern plastic forming process. Compressed natural gas bottles produced by spinning technique avoid some defects in welding cylinders such as low intensity, discontinuous weld, tensile stress concentration and embrittlement, substantially increasing air tightness and high pressure resistance of cylinders. with some advantages of low cost and high product quality as well.This paper consists of three parts. In the first part, the research object is multi-pass conventional spinning forming process of natural gas cylinder. A finite element model of conventional spinning is set up based on ABAQUS/Explicit. Stress and strain analysis of the whole process of spinning cylinders is made. In the second part, by using three-dimensional modeling software Solidwoks, a three-dimensional model of common horizontal spindle spinning system is established. Static analysis of sindle is carried out,calculating the stress and strain of spindle at maximum load. The results show good strength spindle design. By making spindle modal analysis, from 1-6 Order of natural frequencies and mode shapes is calculated. Modal analysis results indicate that low-level natural frequency of spindle is rather high, and the dynamic performance of spindle meets the needs of working conditions. In the third part, static analysis and dynamic analysis of the spindlebox is made, and the design of areas for improvement is pointed out.
