Study On Synthesis Of Benzhydrylamine And Its Application As Amination Reagent

Benzhydrylamine, which is an intermediate of fine chemicals, is applied in many fields such as pharmaceuticals, pesticides, dyes, materials and so on. Method of preparing benzhydrylamine is studied in this paper, and we focus on the method of preparing other primary amines and developed an easier amination reagent of preparing primary amines.A novel route for the synthesis of benzhydrylamine in the system of Zn/HCl is studied, the yield is 86.2%. In this process, the initial material is not only obtained easily but also the price of it is reasonable, and the reaction time is short. After optimization of experiment process, benzhydrylamine is obtained from benzophenone oxime. Furthermore, the initial material is consumed completely and it never produced other impurities in the progress of the reaction.Primary amines, which is obtained from benzhydrylamine, need experience three steps of Schiff base formation, rearrangement, and hydrolization. 1,3,3-Triphenylpropenee, N-[(2-Thienyl)methylidene](diphenylmethyl)amine, N-Furfurylidene(diphenylmethyl)amine are obtained from benzhydrylamine and benzaldehyde, 2-Furancarboxaldehyde, 2-Thenaldehyde, and the yield is respectively 93.7%, 97.3%, 97.5%. Schiff base is rearranged when dealed with t-BuOK and DMSO, then Benzylamine, 2-Furanmethanamine, 2-Thenylamine are obtained from hydrolization of above product. The yield of crude product is respectively 73.2%, 72.1%, 75.5%. Isomerization mechanism of Schiff base is also discussed in this paper.Experiments show that the system of Zn/HCl is preferably applied in preparation of benzhydrylamine; Benzhydrylamine has a certain application value as an amination reagent of synthesis of primary amines owing to its low price, but the purity and yield of some reactions is required futher improved.
