With the global energy shortage and environmental problems becoming increasingly severe, energy saving and environmental protection has become urgent problems of China’s sustainable development. Lighting energy consumption accounts for a large part of the energy consumption, therefore,seeking a new type of green light source become an essential way to reduce energy consumption. LED(Light-Emitting Diode), due to its energy saving, long lifespan, high brightness and small size, become the forth generation light to replace the traditional light. LED industry chain mainly includes manufacturing luminous chips, LED packaging, LED applications and other links. LED packaging is an important part of the whole industry chain, packaging materials play a key role in the protection of the chip with a airtight condition, so the performance of the packaging materials directly affects the service life of LED lamps and the luminous performance. At present, LED packaging materials mainly produced by the U. S. Dow Corning, Wacker and shin Etsu, etc.Company, after years of development, China’s LED industry is relatively perfect,which has a certain foundation for the development. However, the high power LED packaging basically depends on imports, and the price is expensive, which seriously restricted the development of China’s industrial revolution. Therefore,the study on high power LED packaging materials is of important economic value and practical significance.In this paper, by using acid as catalyst, phenyl vinyl and hydrogen containing silicone resin, which are applied on LED packaging, were prepared by the hydrolytic condensation reaction of different monomers. Explore the optimal preparation techonolygy through experiments, and also produce organic materials to meet the request of LED packaging. The main contents of the paper are as follows:(1)The development status of LED packaging materials and the comparison of the performance of different materials in action were summarized. Designed molecular structure that meet the performance requirements of LED packaging materials.(2)The phenyl and vinyl silicone resin were prepared by hydrolysis-condensation reaction using different acids as the catalyst, and the structure and properties of copolymer were characterized by FT-IR and1H-NMR. The best solution was obtained when catalyst dosage accounts for1%-2% of the total mass of reactive monomers, the mole rate of H2 O and Si-OR is 1:1, the mole ratio of C2H5 OH and Si-OR is 1:5, the preparation time should be limited in 6.5h-7.5h, and the temperature should be 70℃-75℃.(3)LED packaging material was synthesized by the reaction of homemade phenyl vinyl silicone resin and silicone oil containing hydrogen with Pt catalyst.The properties of the resulting cured LED packaging materials were tested by TG, UV, viscosimeter, scleroscope, refractometer, which shows all the products meet the requirement of LED packaging.
