Abrasion is an effective indicator to evaluate the performance of rubber products, which is related to many factors, but the abrasion mechanism of rubber composites surface cannot be comprehensively analyzed using the current evaluation methods. Different from the traditional qualitative analysis methods for surface topography, a fractal dimension and multi- fractal spectrum method was used to describe the complex and miscellaneous surface and space structure, quantitatively analyzing the microstructure of the rubber composite material surface and macroscopic abrasion.First of all, the morphology of rubber composite surface worn in high temperature was characterized using the fractal theory, exploring the correlation between high temperature wear performance and worn surface morphology, as well as their regularity. Then a theoretical model of rubber composites was established, in which some performance parameters were defined, and it can characterize the high temperature abrasion of rubber composite quantitatively. Second, some abrasion tests in different conditions were completed, such as different wearing angle, load, road surface and so on, to simulate the conditions of use of the tire objectively, and then to reveal the high temperature abrasion mechanism of rubber composite and to describe it in microcosmic. Finally, based on the indoor test, abrasion surface of full steel meridian tire has be quantitatively analyzed using the fractal theory, especially analyzed the abrasion in different parts under different actual cond itions. So we got the wear characteristics of the tire tread under different regions and mileage.The study shows that:(1)The multi-fractal spectrum curve of the sample surface was a left hook shape curve, in which, spectrum on the left side was concentrated, but it on the right side was relatively sparse. The abrasion surface of composite has obvious fractal characteristics with large probability distribution. So it can be used as an effective analysis method for rubber composite abrasion mechanism;(2)Temperature is a key factor which influences the abrasion performance of rubber composites. The amount of abrasion increase with the increase of temperature. If the wear temperature was higher, and the height of the composite surface was more uniform, worse and more complex;(3)Angle, load and road surface can also affect the surface morphology of worn rubber composites;(4)Tire abrasion surface has obvious fractal characters, and the wear egree is different in different parts of a tire. It was also affected by the tire mileage, tire position, contacted road surface and other factors.
