In the many materials used in the forging industry, the proportion of titanium alloy is more and more large, and its excellent performance has been replaced by a lot of alloys. TC18 is one kind of titanium alloy, it has very high strength and toughness, suitable for use in aircraft design, the structure of the fuselage and the front and rear landing gear, the material is Ti-5Al-5Mo-5V-1Cr-1Fe.There are a lot of reasons to affect the quality of forgings, such as the heating time, the temperature of the furnace, the method of cooling and heat treatment. This paper through of TC18 titanium alloy free forging and die forging molding data comparison and analysis, find out the key factors that influence the quality of the forging, provides valuable reference for XAC forging factory production of TC18 titanium alloy forgings, provides a valuable experience.the main factors that influence the strength of free forging are summed up by the comparison of the numerical values of the TC18 free forging, and the suggestions are given.using the DEFORM-3D platform, a three-dimensional finite element model of the TC18 thin steel forging process is established. Three dimensional finite element simulation of TC18 die forging process is carried out, and the influence of the characteristics and parameters of the forging process is studied. The results show that the early forming is mainly bending, compound extrusion deformation and forming load increased slowly, only die ibid contact part of the equivalent stress and effect becomes larger; then web thinning and the tendons of increased and flash with gradually increasing. The equivalent force gradually to the blank center expansion connected into a large area; late in forming, maximum equivalent stress general flying in the groove on the side of the mouth, and the smallest equivalent strain distribution in the ribs.the production of forging show that using Phi 40 x 65 blank and the loading speed of the upper die selection of 20 mm, ti-6 lubricant selection and ensure evenly, thickness 0.08 ~ 0.14 mm, filling full and good surface quality of die forging. At the same time, it is not only improved the quality of forging, but also reduces the consumption of raw materials by 60%.
