With domestic and foreign mica processing enterprises demand for muscovite increased and resources over-exploitation year by year, study on recoverying muscovite from the tailings gradually is taken seriously. Muscovite is gangue minerals in metal ore beneficiation process. So it needs to be suppressed in order to improve the metal concentrate quality in metal ore flotation process. Research and practice shows,As inhibition of muscovite can not be understood very well, suppressed muscovite recovery is still a problem. It is extremely important to grasp the suppression law of muscovite, contributing to improve muscovite resource utilization in metal ore tailings. So,it is researched in this paper about muscovite surface properties and floatability under dodecylamine system,in order to provide a theoretical basis for muscovite efficient recovery from metal ore tailings.Effect of muscovite floatability is researched by pure mineral flotation tests, including pH value, the dodecylamine dosage, different metal cation, anion and organics. The inhibition mechanism of Fe3+、Al3+、Pb2+、K+、(NaPO3)6、Na2SiO3 in muscovite flotation is investigated with solution chemistry analysis, zeta potential measurement,IR spectrum measurement and XPS analysis. The results shows that the ammonium cation of RNH3+ and (RNH3+)22+ is electrostatic adsorption in the muscovite surfac. As (Na4P6O18)2-、HPO42- is electrostatic adsorption, zeta potential negative of the muscovite surfac increase. (Na4P6O18)2- has certain extent chemistry linkage with metal cation of [Fe,Mg;04]. HPO42- and [SiO4] can formed hydrogen bonding. The result is Si-OH activity decrease. Sodium silicate as silicate particles absorbs on the muscovite surface by electrostatic adsorption, which leads to enhance electropositive and bates electronegtive. Sodium silicate adsorbs on the Si-O zone of the muscovite surface,Si-OH activity decreased. They all can effectively reduce the muscovite floatability.Fe3+、Al3+ are special adsorption on the muscovite surface by hydroxide. Which results in the value of ζ, potential increasing rapidly to reverse. At the same time, they can produce chelation with [SiO4],the activity of Si-OH decreased.Pb2+ adsorbs on the muscovite surface by PbOH+,resulting in negative ε potential increase. It forms chemical bond with Si-O,increasing hydrophilic and weakening the adsorption of dodecylamine on muscovite surface. As the effect of K+,zeta potential of the muscovite surface has a change from negative to positive. Since the reasons for common-ion effect,it hinds the dissolution of K+and the formation of K-O bond. And they makes the electrostatic interaction of dodecylamine weaken in muscovite surface. When the value of pH is 4 and the dosage of dodecylamine is 1.4 × 10-4 mol·L-1, the 1×10-3 mol·L-1 dosage of hexametaphosphate can make the muscovite yield decreas by 70%;the 1×10-3 mol·L-1 dosage of sodium silicatecan makes the muscovite yield decreas by 10%;the 1×10-4 mol·L-1 Mosage of Al3+ makes muscovite yield decreas by 20 %;the 1×10-3 mol·L-1 dosage of Fe3+ makes the muscovite yield decreas by 12%;the 4×10-5mol·L-1 dosage of citric acid makes the muscovite yield decreas by 24%;the 1×10-3mol·L-1 dosage of carboxymethylcellulose makes the muscovite yield decreas by 10%.The inhibition sorting is hexametaphosphate>citrate>Al3+> Fe3+> sodium silicate> CMC+> K+>Cu2+> Ca2+, Mg2+> Pb2.The study of inhibitor mechanism on muscovite surface has a certain significance for muscovite flotation theoretical system. While it has some theoretical guidance for recovering muscovite from the tailings, and at the same time it contributes to recovery the metallic minerals and non-metallic minerals from ores simultaneously.
